I wouldn't call myself a religious person... but when I woke up at 4:30 this morning, for a 6 am crew call on the first shoot day of the short film I'm producing, my first time producing ever... I said a little prayer.

Please God let the crew show up even though the pay is embarrassing, please let the Irish Man be there at 7AM to let us into his bar, please let the sound turn out okay, even though we opted not to rent a mixer, please let the DP and editor not break into a cat fight on set, please let the crew be okay with me scheduling a 14 hour day, please let the street fair and the AIDS walk not interfere with our travel time, please let the director get the scene he wanted out of the location that I forced on him, please let nothing show up missing at the salon we shot at seeing that I named myself, my business partner and my business liable for any damages, please let lunch show up on time so we can get back to work on schedule, please let us get all the shots we planned that day, let the costumes fit, let the equipment run properly, and God, most importantly, please let me suddenly know how to be the producer and turn out a show that myself and everyone around me is proud of... it was the longest prayer I've said since high school. Since the time I begged God to relocate me from Alaska to New York City. Wow. I still don't know about religion, but whoever this God creature is, they sure can come through sometimes. There are only a handful of artistic endeavors in which I can call truly magical... and today was one of them.
